OU students call for campus bandh today

HYD: Students of Osmania University have called for a campus bandh on Friday to protest the arrest of a faculty member, Md Ansari from department of linguistics.

Ansari, who is an assistant professor, was arrested by OU police and shifted to Gandhi Hospital for conducting a hunger strike against the administrative decision that denied him seniority.

Ansari was eligible for the post of assistant professor from 1997 but was not appointed by the university till 2010, though he cleared the screening test. While he was appointed recently, the university denied him seniority.

"His seniority should be considered from 1997 onwards. If not, we will stage protests on campus," said students of the university. The students said that the university administration is biased against Ansari's case as he hails from Telangana region.
