HYD: Several student and youth organisations staged a dharna in front of the entrance of Old MLA Quarters here on Friday demanding the State Government to release funds for tuition fee reimbursement scheme immediately.
Activists of All India Students Federation (AISF), Students Federation of India (SFI), Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF), Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Telugu Yuvatha and others participated in the protest.
Jostling took place between the students and the police when the latter tried to disrupt the protest by attempting to disperse the former. Many students suffered bruises in the melee as the police dragged the agitators and bundled them into police vans. In all, the police arrest about 45 student activists and leaders.
