JNTU semester exams ‘rigged'

The Cyberabad police are investigating into a case of alleged fraud in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University engineering course semester exams following a complaint lodged by university officials.

The university examinations in-charge approached the Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) police stating that some irregularities pertaining to the engineering semester exams was committed. A case under Sections 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession) and 420 (cheating) of IPC was registered.

The complainant did not name any persons but stated that empty answer sheets were sent out. “After writing answers outside, the papers were mixed with answer sheets of others as per the complaint,” the police said on Monday. However, the officials were not sure if only students were involved or any persons connected to the examination aided and abetted them.

“Investigation so far suggests seven students were involved in the fraud,” the police said.
